DEDUCTION GUIDE

Money Deducted From Your Car Rental Deposit?

A partial return or unexplained balance needs a clear breakdown. Ask what the deduction is for and what information supports it before drawing conclusions.

Identify each stated deduction

  • Damage: ask for the identified damage, inspection material and relevant charge information.
  • Salik or traffic fines: ask for dates, vehicle details and transaction or notice records.
  • Fuel or mileage: compare the explanation with the agreement and handover records.
  • Cleaning: ask which condition and agreed term the charge relates to.
  • Unknown deduction: request an itemized explanation instead of guessing.

Compare the numbers

Record the original deposit, every amount returned and every deduction described. The balance should be a calculation you can follow. Preserve the final invoice and bank entries because the merchant's wording may not show whether the remainder is still processing.

Organize supporting information

Keep the rental agreement, vehicle collection and return records, photographs, invoices and correspondence together. A disagreement alone does not establish whether a deduction is valid or invalid; the purpose is to make the claimed basis and your factual response clear.

If no explanation arrives

Record when you requested a breakdown and what response, if any, you received. If you later prepare an escalation, the complaint preparation guide lists the facts and documents to arrange.
